Synaesthesia Installations

Rhythms of Life Prelude
I like the idea that space can be filled with light, vibrations and energy in its raw state and does not always have to contain solids. This video and music composition combines the natural echolocations of bats against the structured beats of tap steps found in dance. The first section of this video explores Synaesthesia and is then followed by expressions of Visual Music in animated form. The idea of a single pitch of music is represented in colours in varying tone.

Shown in a black space this installation offers the viewer an experience of Synaesthesia together with interpretations of sound in the form of paintings. A virtually empty space integrates rhythms, light and music represented as colours and images. The 'Sound Paintings' illustrate the difference between the random complexity of the bat echoloations to the structured more repetitive beats of tap dance using waveforms as a metaphor.
