Artist: Helen Kirby
Profile: Helens career background is initially in theatre and dance. Working as a professional dancer from 1981
to 1992 in Europe and the Caribbean she also contributed to the design and make-up of costumes and props along with taking
rehearsals and choreography. Prior to this she worked in Window Display for three years. Her musical roots date back to the
days she spent writing her first compositions at the age of 11 years old. Since then she has become an accomplished musician
playing alto and soprano saxophone both internationally and in the UK.
After touring as a professional dancer she took up a career in magazine
publishing and graphic design for five years and following this worked in Landscape Architecture. Her links with music and
performance have stayed with her and run alongside her interest in nature and the ability to integrate these elements together
which has become the foundation of her work. A graduate holding an MA in Fine Art gained at the Winchester School of Art in
2007 she continues to explore new avenues and concepts merging contemporary art painting with music and dance. She is currently
studying for a BA Single Honors in Choreography and Dance at the University of Winchester.
